A Spring Update from CCSC

Happy Spring CCSC Community!

Undoubtedly, spring is in the air. If the weather cooperates, Northern MI slopes will be blanketed in snow once again in just seven short months!

As we transition to bicycles, beach days, and short sleeves, the CCSC team is also transitioning into planning mode.

Spring and summer are robust and busy times at CCSC. With an incredible winter behind us, spring and summer will represent seasons of reflection, planning, and strategic goal setting.

Three years ago, we set ambitious goals for the future with our 2023-26 Strategic Plan. Although it seems hard to believe, we are wrapping up that plan and beginning on the next.

Some milestones from the 2023-26 Strategic Plan include:

  • Expanded reach - now at 1,100 youth per season

  • New programming including Friday Night Lights and the Alpine USSS Team

  • An increased commitment to inclusivity, with growth in outreach initiatives both locally and statewide

  • Quadrupling the size of our scholarship program

  • An organizational transition to a governance model

  • Enhanced organizational policies and procedures

  • Educating our coaches, leading to a nearly 100% certified coaching staff

  • And MUCH more

So, what is next?

There are certain things core to our DNA at CCSC. We are committed to creating a place for every child, ensuring quality in everything we do, and providing opportunities for youth to experience winter in ways that resonate with them— whether through leadership, competition, or simply the joy of being outdoors.

As we draft the next strategic plan, our future as a community asset will be at the forefront. We want to build on what we presently do, determine what additional roles we can fill, and chart the course for a long future for CCSC.

The future is bright for CCSC, and we could not be more excited to think about what lies ahead.

In the meantime, enjoy your spring and summer and remember - the best time of the year - WINTER! - is never more than a few months away.

Best,
