Outreach

CCSC proudly has dedicated outreach initiatives to youth in populations not traditional to snowsports. It is our core belief that sliding on snow is for everyone, regardless of race, gender, income, geography, et cetera.

To accomplish this, we partner with groups both locally and statewide. Below are some examples of our outreach partnerships:

SOS Outreach/Hamtramck High School Hamtramck, MI

Youth from Hamtramck, MI (located near Detroit) ski and ride at Mt. Brighton through SOS Outreach. Many of these students are first generation to the US, with origins in Yemen, Poland, and Bangladesh. After the seasonal program ends at Mt. Brighton, the kids and their chaperones spend 2 nights and 3 days at Crystal Mountain each March hosted by CCSC.

New this year, CCSC is happy to also host UPrep school in addition to Hamtramck.

LIFT Teen Center - Suttons Bay, MI

LIFT is a very robust after school program in Leelanau County who, among many other things, provides opportunities for their youth to participate in new things in the community. Thanks to funding from the Share Winter Foundation and private donors, LIFT teens participate all winter in our Friday Night Lights program.

Flint YMCA - Flint, MI

As a part of the YMCA's Safe Places After School Program, youth ski and ride at Mt.Holly during January and February. These kids then get to come to Crystal Mountain for a day of skiing and riding with CCSC each March. Thanks to funding from the Share Winter Foundation, Flint YMCA youth are able to ski at Mt. Holly and Crystal Mountain.
