About Warren Miller Films

Warren Miller films are annual celebrations that cross generations and connect us to the comforting constant of snow. ALL TIME is all about good turns and good snow on good hills with good people.

Celebrate the birth of ski towns like Sun Valley and Aspen, icons and innovators like the original hotdoggers, and the most outlandish locations ever skied. Then, catch up with Maine’s finest athlete of today, Donny Pelletier, and meet the next generation at Woodward Park City. Through it all, Jonny Moseley and special guests will share their own stories to bring us to this moment.

Matt Clayson Named President of Crystal Community Ski Club Board of Directors

Crystal Community Ski Club (“CCSC”) is proud to announce the election of Matthew Clayson to President of the CCSC Board of Directors, effective November 16, 2022.  CCSC was established to develop and lead programming that removes barriers in getting kids involved in winter sports.  Last season, CCSC introduced 871 Michigan youth to winter sports through its Alpine, Nordic, Teen Leadership and Outreach programs.

“I am excited that Matt is at the helm of our Board as CCSC plans the next steps of its future,” says Hunter Steinkamp, CCSC Operations Manager. “Matt's experience in the nonprofit, legal, and business sectors as well as his passion for snowsports will certainly be of benefit to CCSC and the youth we serve."

I am excited that Matt is at the helm of our Board as CCSC plans the next steps of its future.
— Hunter Steinkamp, CCSC Operations Manager

Matt, a third generation competitive skier whose family has roots in various ski clubs - both defunct and current - in Western Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, is father of two skiers, one who is an alpine racer in Crystal Community Ski Club’s “Race Academy” program.

When not at Crystal Mountain or Northern Michigan, Matt is in Detroit where he is Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Detroit Trading Company, a leading automotive digital marketing agency. He’s been named to the TechWeek 100 Most Innovative Leaders in Tech and Entrepreneurship, and has been recognized by the German Marshall Fund, Crain’s Detroit Business, the AdCraft Club of Detroit, the American Institute of Architects and the BMW Foundation for his commitment to leadership, service and innovation.

Matt looks forward to establishing CCSC as a premier organization that connects youth and their families to winter sports and activities, instilling a lifetime love of winter in all Michigan residents.

It is important that we ensure that Michigan youth, regardless of background, are able to enjoy everything that a good, cold and snowy Michigan winter can offer.
— Matt Clayson

“Michigan winters are the best. They connect us with each other, enable us to find beauty in the smallest things, and create memories that last a lifetime. And it is important that we ensure that Michigan youth, regardless of background, are able to enjoy everything that a good, cold and snowy Michigan winter can offer,” Matt says.

“Crystal Community Ski Club Nordic and alpine programming at Crystal Mountain brings the joy of winter sports to more than 800 Michigan youth each year, in large part due to committed instructors, generous volunteers and strong community partnerships. I look forward to growing these existing partnerships and establishing new partnerships to ensure Crystal Community Ski Club is able to meaningfully connect even more youth to the awe of a good, cold, snowy Michigan winter.”

Warren Miller Movie Event + Silent Auction a Huge Success

The Warren Miller Movie Event and Silent Auction, benefitting Crystal Community Ski Club (CCSC) was held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, and was a huge success for the club!

“It was inspiring to see so many members of the CCSC community and beyond come together for this event. From the individuals and businesses that donated items for the silent auction to our title sponsor, Stormcloud Brewing, our movie sponsor, Crystal Mountain, and the hundreds of people that purchased movie tickets and bid on silent auction items, the entire event was a huge success,” says Hunter Steinkamp, Operations Manager.

The evening began with dinner at Stormcloud Brewing from 4-6pm, where 20% of the proceeds benefitted the club. From there, the doors opened at the Garden Theater. Guests could make their final silent auction bids (after bidding took place online for the week prior), purchase items from the bake sale to benefit the Nordic program and grab goodies from our local Atomic ski rep, Patti Yearn-Andresen.

In the theater, our very own CCSC Program Director and Coach Marco Dudenbach spun tunes from his DJ booth, and the evening kicked off with some announcements and door prizes from Operations Manager, Hunter Steinkamp. Following these announcements, the premier of our CCSC season “movie” premiered on the big screen.

You can watch it here.

The Warren Miller movie played on the big screen to a crowd of more than 150 people. Following a brief intermission, a few more door prizes, and the close of the silent auction, the evening ended with everyone feeling excited for the upcoming season.

“You could really feel the energy from the room. We had just had our first snowstorm of the winter, and there was just this excitement for the upcoming winter season. We can’t wait,” says Beth Major, Nordic coach.

The best part of the night? $8,000 was raised to help CCSC get even more kids participating in programs this year.

Huge thanks to our event sponsors! Please click here to see the full list.

Hunter Steinkamp Named Operations Manager of Crystal Community Ski Club

We are proud to announce the hiring of Crystal Community Ski Club’s first employee. Hunter Steinkamp is officially the Operations Manager for CCSC, effective October 1, 2022.

Hunter comes to the position with a wealth of knowledge and experience with snowsports, Crystal Mountain, the local community and CCSC.

“Hunter has been involved with CCSC for the last few years. As a downhill and Nordic ski instructor, an employee of Crystal Mountain and current Revenue Development Chair of the club, we’re excited to see Hunter continue helping us grow and reach more youth,” says CCSC President, Mark Hughes.

Hunter is also looking forward to getting to work. “I’ve been waiting for a  position like this for the past 10 years. I’m able to work in snowsports and make a difference in the lives of kids. It’s a dream.”

Hunter will be working with all programs within the club to help with overall communication, organization and efficiency. He will also be writing grants, assisting with fundraising, serving as a CCSC liaison with Crystal Mountain and continuing to serve as an alpine and nordic ski coach.

“It’s a big job,” says Nordic Program Director Tim Furbacher. “But Hunter is 100% up to the challenge.”

About Crystal Community Ski Club

Established in 2018, Crystal Community Ski Club (CCSC) is committed to developing strong skiers, snowboarders and ski racers with a focus on fun and sportsmanship. Our mission is to help kids in our 5-county community and beyond develop a love of outdoor activities, build leadership skills and create transformational relationships through our affordable downhill, nordic and outreach ski programs.

From our student athletes and coaches, to parents and family members, to our local community and beyond, community means a lot of things to our club. In our fourth year, we’ve grown from 100 youth to over 850 kids participating in our programs.

As we look to the future, we plan to continue to attract more local youth to our programs, retain our current membership by improving existing programs, and continue to eliminate barriers to youth participation. 2023 goal: 1,000 kids participating in our programs.
