CCSC Nordic Skiers Experience World Cup Racing in Lake Placid
Throwback to last spring: Two CCSC Nordic Race Team athletes had the opportunity to experience world-class cross-country skiing firsthand at the World Cup Finals in Lake Placid, New York, in March.
From March 20–22, Lake Placid hosted the Cross-Country World Cup Finals, bringing many of the world’s top Nordic skiers together for a weekend of high-level racing. A group of CCSC Nordic coaches and athletes traveled to the event to take in the action.
CCSC coaches Tim Furbacher, Beth Major, and Karen Kirt attended alongside Nordic Race Team members Ava and Anna Higley. In addition to watching the world’s best compete, the Higley sisters had the chance to participate in the Future Skiers Sprint and One Last Lap, an event celebrating the careers of retiring World Cup athletes, including Jessie Diggins.
The weekend also gave Ava and Anna the opportunity to meet numerous Olympic and World Cup skiers, providing an unforgettable behind-the-scenes look at the sport to which they have dedicated their time.
For the Higley sisters, the experience reinforced just how much they enjoy cross-country skiing and competition—and gave them an inspiring glimpse at where the sport can take them.
This opportunity showed the Higley sisters how much they love cross country skiing and competing. The season never ends for cross country skiers, especially CCSC Crystal Nordic athletes.
